Programme
The final conference programme for BAVS 2016: "Consuming (the) Victorians" contained the most up-to-date information on panels, sessions, and events across the three days of the conference at Cardiff University.
Conference Schedule
The programme was subdivided into separate days for ease of access:
PGR/ECR Workshops (31st August)
The opening day began with dedicated workshops for postgraduate researchers and early career researchers. These sessions provided opportunities for emerging scholars to present their work in a supportive environment and receive feedback from experienced academics in the field of Victorian studies.
Programme Day 1 (31st August)
The first full day of conference proceedings featured a range of themed panel sessions exploring different facets of Victorian consumption. Panels covered topics from material culture and commodity exchange to literary representations of consumer desire and the economics of Victorian publishing.
Programme Day 2 (1st September)
Day two continued with further panel sessions alongside special themed strands. The day included the conference reception at the National Museum Cardiff, with access to the Impressionist galleries and Victorian art collection, followed by an organ recital and the conference dinner.
Programme Day 3 (2nd September)
The final day brought the conference to a close with remaining panel sessions and the President's Panel. Distinguished speakers reflected on the major themes that had emerged throughout the event, offering perspectives on the future directions of Victorian consumer culture studies.
